“Urban Talks” is one of the featured programs of the Jakarta Future Festival 2026, designed to explore the city’s direction and help shape its future as it approaches its 500-year milestone. In this session, “Urban Talks” spotlights Reviving The Future of Pasar Baru, Glodok, and Kota Tua, three districts that were once among Jakarta’s most vibrant hubs and now hold renewed potential as key urban nodes, especially with the expansion of the MRT Phase 2A public transport infrastructure. The resurgence of economic activity, business opportunities, and the synergy between spatial character and cultural heritage present a compelling new value for urban development. This discussion will explore a vision where these areas are seamlessly connected to Jakarta’s city center through modern infrastructure, while preserving their historical identity reflected in architecture and urban design.
